Third international training course on advanced data analytics at extended introductory level, Gdańsk, September 17-20, 2024
In 17 – 20 September 2024, Gdansk University of Technology in Poland organized the third international training course on advanced data analytics at extended introductory level as part of the AdTrans project. This comprehensive course was designed to equip academic teachers with foundational skills in data analysis, tailored specifically for the fields of transportation and mobility.
The training covered the following sessions.
Session 1. Introduction to Data Analysis:
– Overview of Data Analysis,
– Importance of Data-driven Decision Making,
– Basic Concepts: Data, Variables, Types of Data,
– Examples for Engineering,
– Types of Data Sources,
– Sampling Techniques and their impact on study types,
– The importance of data pre-processing and data quality,

– Python introduction,
– The main functions of Orange,
– Practical work with Python and Orange.
Session 3. Exploratory Data Analysis:
– Descriptive Statistics,
– Data Visualization Techniques using Python and Orange,
– Analyse descriptive statistics using Python and Orange,
– Case Studies: Interpreting Data Graphs in Engineering.
Session 4. Statistical Methods for Engineers:
– Probability Distributions,
– Estimators and Confidence intervals,
– Hypothesis Testing,
– Examples for Engineering,
– Case studies with Python.
Session 5. Cluster analysis and Factorial analysis:
– Clustering technics,
– Cluster quality,
– Principal component analysis (PCA).
